If you or a loved one need a ride to a medical appointment, please call 704.347.8210.
American Red Cross Transportation Services are provided to Mecklenburg and Iredell County residents FREE of charge. The service assists residents who have no other means of transportation to and from remedial or preventative care appointments. Transportation is provided Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on a first-come-first-served, non-emergency basis.
Client Qualifications
If you need a ride to your medical appointment and do not receive assistance from Special Transportation Services or DSS Transportation Services and are ambulatory of have an escort you may qualify for The American Red Cross Transportation Services.

Enroll a Client
To enroll a client in the American Red Cross Transportation Services Program, we must have a one-time phone referral called in by a medical professional, social worker, Home Health Care nurse etc. This process will take about five minutes to complete by calling 704.347.8210. Once the referral is submitted, there is no need to refer them again; the client will be able to phone the Transportation Services Department directly to schedule a ride.
Request a Ride
Your request for transportation services must be received within five (5) business days of your appointment because the schedule is booked on a first come first served non emergency basis.

Come join the team of more that 60 volunteers who enjoy helping residents in Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties get to their much needed medical appointments.

Holiday Closings
Transportation Services are not available if severe weather prohibits safe operation of vehicles. Services will also be closed in observance of the following holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day following and Christmas Day.
