Donate, sign up for Toys for Tots

It’s that time of year already. The Willcox Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture has boxes and some donation jars for Toys for Tots at the Visitors Center. If anyone would like to have a big box for toys or a donation jar in your place of business, please let the Chamber know.

Also, if you know of a family with children that are in need, please let us know their information and we will take care of them.

Toy drop-off and donations are from Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Chamber, Western Bank and Maid-Rite Feeds. You can request a Toy until Friday, Dec. 11. There are forms available at the drop off locations or http://www.toysfortots.org.

All of the donations stay in Willcox and the area.

Women’s finances presentation Nov. 3

Edward Jones Financial Advisor Cheryl McLaughlin of Willcox is hosting a free presentation titled Take Control of Your Financial Future: Master Five Money Questions for Women at 6 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 3 at SSVEC Boardroom, 350 N Haskell in Willcox.

This presentation takes a look at the unique financial circumstances women face and illustrates how a strong financial strategy that fits one’s lifestyle and needs is vital.

Refreshments will be served.

Willcox First Baptist prayer service

Willcox First Baptist Church, 321 W. Maley Ave. has an evening service. If you need prayer, know someone who does, want to sing along or just listen, join us every Sunday at 6 p.m.

Everyone is invited, regardless of religious preference. We welcome you.

NCCH Auxiliary Christmas Preview

Northern Cochise Community Hospital Auxiliary presents its 2015 Christmas Preview and Bake Sale on Friday, Oct. 30, in the NCCH Boardroom (located directly across the street from Pizza Hut) from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All purchases are tax-free. Over 1,000 items to choose from! Come down and enter our raffle for one of two great prizes!

Dragoon Daze set for Nov. 7

The Dragoon Women’s Club, at 1871 N. Johnston Rd. in Dragoon, will be celebrating Dragoon Daze as a swap meet this year, on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Set up will start at 7 a.m. The fee for a space is $10. The Women’s Club will also have a Unique Boutique in the club house. There will be food and drinks for a donation. For more information call Mary at 520-204-2610 or 586-2830.

Blood drive in San Simon Tuesday

San Simon High School will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Blood Donors Must:

• Be in good general health and feeling well.

• Be at least 17-years-old in most states, or 16-years-old with parental consent if allowed by state law.

• Weigh at least 110 pounds.

Additional weight requirements apply for donors 18-years-old and younger and all high school donors.

Free healthy holiday cooking classes

Free holiday cooking classes will be held Sunday and Tuesday, Nov. 1 and 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Willcox Community Center: 312 W. Stewart St,. Willcox.

Food drive at Edward Jones

Cheryl McLaughlin, Edward Jones financial advisor in Willcox, is supporting the ninth Annual Bag-a-Thon food drive by using her office as a drop-off location for nonperishable food items Oct. 26 through Nov. 5.

Local residents may contribute to the effort by bringing in items to the Edward Jones branch office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during that time period. Edward Jones cannot accept monetary donations of any kind toward this effort.

WHS Orchestra at theater Nov. 12

The Willcox High School Chamber Orchestra will perform at the Theater, showcasing the talents of the best of the best from its award-winning string orchestra. The Chamber Orchestra will play a selection from its repertoire under the direction of its new Orchestra Director, Orlando Moss.

The concert will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Willcox Historic Theater, 134 N. Railroad Ave., Willcox, Ariz. Admission is $5.

This concert will benefit the Willcox Schools String Orchestra program.
